Trip Cost & Fuel Calculator
Run the numbers before you leave the dock. Punch in your round-trip distance, cruise speed, and burn rate, add whatever else the day costs, and see what it actually runs per person.

How this is figured
Running time is round-trip distance divided by cruise speed, and fuel burned is that running time multiplied by your burn rate at that speed — the same math as any fuel-planning rule of thumb, just with sliders. This only covers the running leg at a steady cruise; it doesn't add time spent trolling, drifting, or idling on structure, which usually burns fuel at a much lower rate. Add a reserve before you actually leave the dock — most captains plan on burning no more than a third of usable fuel to get somewhere, a third to fish and run around once there, and keep a third in reserve for the way home and anything unplanned.
